School Board Appreciation

At the January 2018 Jeff Tech JOC meeting, we presented committee members with the gift pictured below in honor of school board appreciation month. The freshman Jeff Tech welding students created these awesome gifts. Thank you to our board. We appreciate you!

    Viking Snowman Bottle Cap Project

Jeff TechJeff Tech students and art club members were very creative in constructing a viking snowman out of bottle caps this winter. Under the direction of art teacher Angela Dragich, Jeff Tech student Daylene Tabascko designed the drawing for the project. Donations of bottle caps of all kinds were accepted from students and staff. The building trade students constructed a stand for the snowman from wood and cardboard. Once the bottle caps were collected, students in the auto body shop painted them the various colors needed. The art class and art club students then glued the bottle caps onto the outlined design using glue guns. The completed viking snowman has been displayed in the front hallway for everyone to enjoy this winter.

The leftover bottle caps were given to our 2017 graduate, Jade Steele, who will take them to Phi Beta Lambda at Point Park University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for the National Kidney Foundation. Each plastic bottle cap collected will provide one minute of dialysis for a local child in need. We are very excited that we were able to donate three boxes of bottle caps.

    Congratulations

Congratulations to adult students Christy Schneider, building trades program, and Barry Mackie, precision machining program, on their graduation on Friday, January 19, 2018! Way to go!

Jeff Tech Offers New Alumni Service

The Jeff Tech Adult Education Department and the IT Department have worked together to create a new job availability service for all Jeff Tech graduates. Graduates of Jeff Tech can now register their biographical information on the new Alumni page that will allow them to be notified of not only news on alumni events, but if they choose, they can also be notified by text and e-mail when a job opening exists in the local area that relates to the skills learned at Jeff Tech.

"Jeff Tech is frequently notified of job opportunities with local employers, but for a variety of reasons, we may not have a current student attending Jeff Tech available for the position. In the past, we had no way of notifying our graduates quickly, easily, and inexpensively of those opportunities," Megan Bundy, adult education coordinator stated. "This new system allows any past graduate to register with our alumni and be notified of employment opportunities." To register for the job posting service, please visit our registration page or you may also select the About Us, then Alumni links in the top menu.
