Right to Know Law:

Governor Edward G. Rendell signed the new Right-To-Know law on February 14, 2008 fundamentally changing the way people access public records of their government. This Web page has been created in response to that law, which fully takes effect January 1, 2009.

The following fee structure is in place for all requests under the Right to Know law:

A “photocopy” is either a single-sided copy or one side of a double-sided black and white copy of a standard 8.5’ x 11” page

Electronic copy of record – Electronic copies will be provided by means of computer disk. For transfer of an electronic file to a computer disk, the charge is $1 for the disk plus $20 per hour with a minimum charge of $20. The same charge will apply for e-mail of record when request is made for access in electronic form and solely for its convenience the district chooses e-mail transmission in lieu of providing a disk. No charge will apply if solely for its convenience the district elects to e-mail a record instead of providing access through personal inspection of a paper copy.

Redaction – If redaction is required before the record can be accessed, the school will charge $20 per hour.

Mailing copy of record- If a request is made for mailing and the district chooses to mail the copy instead of personal pickup, the requester will pay the actual cost of shipping or postage.

Actual cost for postage

Facsimile transmission – If a request is made for facsimile transmission and the district chooses to provide facsimile transmission instead of personal pickup, the requester will pay $.25 per page.

Prepayment: Prior to granting a request for access in accordance with this Act, the school may require a requester to prepay an estimate of the fees authorized under this section if the fees required to fulfill the request are expected to exceed $100.
