Admission

SEX: May be male or female.

MARITAL STATUS: May be married, single, divorced, separated, or widowed.

RESIDENT: Pennsylvania

EDUCATION: Required to have a high school diploma or its equivalent as evaluated by the Department of Education. High School transcript is evaluated on an individual basis, but a “C” average is preferred.

HEALTH: A complete physical examination administered by a physician of the applicant’s choice or a certified registered nurse practitioner which must include: complete blood count, urinalysis, drug screen, and Rubella Titer.

The following immunizations are required: Polio, Diphtheria, Tetanus, Hepatitis B, MMR or documented immunity, and P.P.D. within 90 days of admission. Students who are non-immune to rubella or rubella will need to be immunized. The influenza Virus Vaccine is strongly recommended.

BASIC SKILLS ASSESSMENT: The ATI TEAS test evaluates reading, numerical and language ability. Test results are used to select applicants and to identify deficiencies in basic skills, which will need remediation.

PERSONAL INTERVIEW: A satisfactory interview with the Coordinator.

PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS: Evaluation through references and a personal interview. These should include a genuine interest in people, good communication skills, and a motivation for nursing.

REFERENCES: Three satisfactory personal recommendations from persons not related to the applicant.
