OverviewJeff Tech has many community members who volunteer their time in a consulting capacity. These individuals participate in Jeff Tech's Advisory Committees. Each program at Jeff Tech has an Occupational Advisory Committee composed of persons with expertise in that occupational field. These committees review topics including but not limited to facilities, equipment, supplies, curriculum, and placement. The groups make suggestions and recommendations to strengthen the programs to benefit the students and the local economy. An Occupational Advisory Committee keeps the program up-to-date. This work is especially important as technological changes occur at an ever increasing rate. Above the Occupational Advisory Committee is the Local Advisory Committee. Its purpose is to advise the Jeff Tech Committee and Administration concerning vocational, technical, occupational, and adult vocational education. The Local Advisory Committee consists of a sufficient number of individuals to provide a cross section of business and industry in the Jefferson County-DuBois labor market. These groups work with the Administration and Instructors at Jeff Tech to keep vocational-technical education strong in the local area. Their work is voluntary and it is important to Jeff Tech's success. The Occupational Advisory Chairpersons are: Mr. John DeCarli (Auto Body), Mr. Kevin Thomas (Auto Mechanics), Mr. Carl Smyers (Drafting), Mrs. Jonnie Ferranti (Food Service), Mr. Gary Kahle (Metal Fabrication), and David Resinger (IT Academy). Other Occupational Advisory Committees include Building Trades, Cosmetology, Health Assisting, and Machine Shop. The Local Advisory Committee officers are: Mr. Harry Bressler (Chairperson), Mr. John DeCarli (Vice-Chairperson), and Mr. Robert Stowman (Secretary). |
