Drafting BrochureDrafting

Drafters can be found in a variety of industries in our country, state, and even in our own local area. Without drafters, an important communication link between the designer and the builder would be missing.

Although the drafting program covers many different fields of drafting, the students often find a specific occupation to focus on. Students become familiar with the "standards" that are used by drafters throughout the world. Students are encouraged to use reference materials to help them with projects. "Computer Assisted Drafting" (CAD) is strongly emphasized in our entire program.

Math ability, the ability to imagine what objects look like before they are drafted, and patience for precise, detailed work are qualifications that the successful student must possess. Neatness, accuracy, and orderly work habits are emphasized. Drafters are in constant demand by industry, engineering firms, industrial developers and designers, architectural firms, construction companies, and government agencies.

Students are always encouraged to further their education, and many will enroll in a technical school to obtain an Associate Degree, others may decide to enroll in Bachelor Degree programs to obtain a degree in a career of their own choosing.
