The BUILDING TRADES program develops an understanding of basic building construction and maintenance principles.Safety, plumbing, electricity, painting, masonry, welding, carpentry, machine maintenance, heating, ventilating and air conditioning, are covered to provide students with the skills necessary to construct and repair building structures. The ability to think quickly and diagnose maintenance problems are essential, as are math skills and hand-eye coordination.Flexibility and a variety of skills are important as employment options arise in public buildings, factories, warehouses, corporations, high rise apartment buildings, and home maintenance and repair. For the individual who enjoys indoor and outdoor climates, building trades will offer the “best of both worlds.”
