Driver's Education (.25 Credit or 31.5 Hours)

The complete Driver's Education course should include both a classroom phase and in the car instruction. Classroom Driver's Education is a requirement of all tenth grade students. The Driver's Education course should provide a minumum of thirty clock hours of classroom instruction and a minimum of six hours behind the wheel instruction, taught by a teacher certified in driver's education. The classroom instruction is concentrated in those areas of traffic safety not primarily concerned with actual manipulation of the motor vehicle. After successfully completing the classroom course of Driver's Education, the student will be given one-fourth unit credit. Credit is not given for in-car instruction.
