PADOT Safety Inspection Certification
This course will provide instruction for individuals seeking to become certified PA State Inspection Mechanics. There are three categories of certification. Category #1 is Cars and Light Trucks, Category #2 is Motorcycles, and Category #3 is Heavy Trucks and Buses and Trailers over 10,000 pounds. All category testing is available at each session.
All individuals should bring identification (valid driver's license) each night of class.Class sessions begin promptly at 6 PM.Please bring a notebook and pen/pencil each night also.
Two weeks before the class begins, registered individuals should call to set up an appointment to complete their 409 form and pick up class materials.
Classess will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday on the first week and Tuesday (Class and Written Tests) and Wednesday (Tactile Testing) during the second week. Tactile tests for both sessions are individually scheduled for candidates who successfully complete the written tests.
Inidviduals who are already certified as inspection mechanics and wish to add an additional category to their card need to submit an application and come in for the written tests on Wednesday of the second week. This testing will begin at 6 PM and is held in the Auto Mechanics Shop. If this test is completed successfully, the individual will be scheduled for the appropriate tactile test on the same evening.
