Community Action GED Preparation and Basic Education Skills

This program is offered by Community Action Inc. Classes are held on Wednesday evenings from 5:30 to 8:30 PM.  There is no charge to the student for participating in this program and classes can be joined at anytime.  Please call 1-877-580-6739, ext.2 to enroll.   Pre-testing for the GED test is available through this program. Classes are held in Room 112. The program offers small group instruction to students in basic educational skills, job readiness, employment skills, some computer skills, GED and post-secondary preparation, and reviews academic skills in the following areas:

Mathematics: Basic arithmetic, decimals, fractions, percentages, measurements, geometry, algebra, charts, graphs, statistics, and real world applications.

English/Writing Skills: Punctuation, capitalization, spelling, basic grammar, sentence structure, paragraph formation, essay writing, literature, communication, and real world applications.

Social Studies/Science: Selected readings in the areas of social and natural sciences will foster main concepts and be used in developing reading comprehension, vocabulary, main idea, as well as map and graph reading skills.

The broad areas covered in these classes allow for a general review of the emphasized subject area and the organization of the classes allow for individual needs to be met.
